Lucius Morris Brown

Lucius Morris Brown, 85, born April 29, 1930, in Gladys, VA, died on January 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Winifred Hawkins Brown; two sons, Michael Morris Brown (wife, Sandy) of Chesterfield, VA; and Robert Alan Brown (wife, Rachel) of Saginaw, TX; one daughter, Angela Brown Smith (husband, Ryan) of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren, Zach and Nick Brown of Chesterfield, VA; Xan and Cassie Brown of Saginaw, TX; and Abby, Declan, and Amelia Smith of Durham, NC; and one sister, Doris Webber (husband, Marvin) from Rustburg, VA. He was preceded in death by sister, Alice Louise Lair.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and received his BS degree in Civil Engineering and MS degree in Sanitary Engineering from VPI. He worked at the VA Dept. of Health, Division of Water Programs for 35 years. He loved to fish, follow Virginia Tech football, tend to his garden, and spend time with his grandchildren. He was actively involved in his church and the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry.

The family will receive visitors at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113 from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 11. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment immediately following at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Massey Cancer Center.
