Marian Arletta Hartig

Marian Arletta Hartig, nee Brown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20, 2022. She was born May 7,1932 to Margaret and Walter Brown, Mt. Vernon NY. In 1939 they moved to East Hartford CT. She graduated from The Teachers’ College of CT in 1954 and began teaching kindergarten. Also that year Marian married her true love Rudy Hartig in the US Merchant Marine Academy chapel, Great Neck, Long Island. They were married for 60 years until Rudy’s death in December 2014. She leaves behind 3 children, Dr. Phillip Hartig (Linda) of Durham, NC, Douglas Hartig (Heather) of Saipan, and Lorielie Zlotkowski (Kenny) of Powhatan, VA; 8 granddaughters, one grandson and 9 great-grandchildren. Marian taught kindergarten for a short time but saw her role in life to be first and foremost that of wife and mother. As her children were graduating from high school she began working at CT General Life Insurance. Marian was active in her church as Sunday school teacher, choir member, and pianist. Marian and Rudy moved to Richmond, VA in 1990 in order to be closer to family. Services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, 2:00 pm at Woody Huguenot Chapel, followed by a private interment.
