Marie Waters Selfe, age 86, of Richmond, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. She was born in Bon Air, VA to Edward and Thelma Waters. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Selfe, her sister Elsie Cosby and her brother Edward Waters and Stepson Jimmy. Marie graduated from St. Gertrude High School and went on to receive a nursing degree from Richmond Professional Institute.
Marie had a long and rewarding career in nursing and loved to over-volunteer with her church and in the community. She was also a Richmond city tour guide and loved telling everyone about her amazing hometown. Marie was a generous and elegant lady who had a fun, sarcastic sense of humor. Her happiest times were traveling with her husband Clyde Selfe and their friends. Those who knew her were truly blessed. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her three sons; David (Robin) Baker, Danny (Julie) Baker and Steve (Heather) Baker as well as five grandchildren; Cullen (Liz), Cody (Emilie), Haley (Alex), Jake and Zach; her former spouse, James Baker; and five step-children ( Bobby, Nancy, Carolyn and Paul and their families).
A remembrance service is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel at 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian VA. Please omit flowers. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Massey Cancer Center.
