Nan was an Episcopalian, devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to play the piano, knit, read, play bridge, and was an avid golfer into her eighties, being a member of the Stonehenge Women’s Golf Association, Stonehenge Golf & Country Club, the Midlothian Women’s Club, and the Richmond City Women’s Club. She was a stewardess with United Airlines after high school for about a year.
She was born and raised in Medford, Oregon, attended the University of Oregon, was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and met the love of her life there. In July 1942 they were married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while Don was in port from a shakedown cruise. She lived in many places during their life in the military. One of the most interesting was a short stay in Japan where their youngest daughter was born. She loved going out to lunch every day, and especially enjoyed Sundays at Crab Louie's.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Don Walter Galbreaith (USMC, retired) of Boise, Idaho; her parents, Carl Yngve and Edna Allexan Tengwald of Medford, Oregon; her sisters, Carol Jeanne Thorndike and Phyllis Audrey Tengwald, both of Medford, Oregon; infant granddaughter Eleanor Jane Dennis; and infant great-granddaughter Hannah Jane Hamilton.

The family would like to thank Dr. Goddard and his nurse of Midlothian Family Practice and Gentiva Home Health and Hospice for their good care of our mother. We would also like to thank our sister and her family for taking such good care of mom these last few months. Thanks again mom for teaching us to “bend with the wind”.
Woody Funeral Home (Huguenot) will be assisting the family.
