Nécrologie de Perry Michael Atkins
Perry Michael Atkins affectionately known as “Michael” was born January 6th 1969, to the late Virginia Ann Ballard and the late Albert Capers. To put it plain, to know Michael was to love him, I’m sure we would all agree. Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether over obsessing about his wardrobe, and all of his accessories, spending time with his family, (some assigned, others chosen) enjoying a good meal, or hosting an occasional card game at his home, which was immaculate by the way, there was never a dull moment. Entrepreneur, son, brother, uncle, sponsor and friend amongst other hats, he prided himself in assisting those in need of help, providing special focus to individuals seeking help with recovery. Michael exhibited love, patience, devotion, dedication, and compassion to anyone who took the first step on their road to recovery in an attempt to complete the 12-step program, a remarkable exhibition of love, I’d say. Throughout the years Michael attended hundreds, maybe even thousands of meetings with this focus in mind connecting to new people daily giving himself another opportunity to minister to individuals in this capacity. Michael started his day daily by sending out a host of good morning text messages, that will be missed. He’d call when needed and was available as needed to everyone he loved. He loved dancing, watching good movies, politics, family gatherings and his trips to Philadelphia to visit his nieces and nephews. In his final days he remained positive never losing sight of the gift of life, continuing his routine, and maintaining his independence with some help. His sense of humor was still very much alive and he was still talking smack for lack of better terms. On November 20, 2022 he gained his wings and joined his mother and father in glory. He leaves to cherish his memories his Brother, Elton Atkins; his uncle, Rodger Atkins (Karen); his nephew, Jonathan Atkins; three nieces, Naomi Crump (Kareem), Corin Bradley, Shanice Atkins; his great nephews, Christian and Kaleb Crump and Chase Murray; his great niece, Kameah Crump; one great-great nephew Ky’air Cosom; his cousin, Sherron Atkins; and his best friend Dale Serisis. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his chosen family, one son Michael Fleming (Tina); two grandchildren, Michael and Tiana Fleming; sister, Nina McCarthy; three Brothers, Willis Pittman, Terrance Jackson, and Howvard Brooks; five nieces, Zekeisha Williams, Nykia Sterling, Jamiesha McCarthy, Jamillah Sterling and Keitah Walker; one nephew, Jamil Turner; one great-niece, Zy’Kera Cook; one special friend, Jason Boyd; and a host of other family members and friends. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you’re loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
