Rachel was an excellent homemaker and was the heart of the family. She loved to cook and bake and planted a vegetable garden every summer. There were always freshly baked cakes, pies, or cookies in her kitchen that she was happy to share with whoever came to visit. She often invited family or friends for a gourmet meal, complete with fine china and fancy desserts. Rachel also liked to go for long walks, read and knit. She loved to travel and one year, the whole family went camping throughout Europe for the entire summer.
Family was important to Rachel. She loved being a grandmother and treasured her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mimi. Rachel and John often drove to Florida to visit Suzanne and the kids. She also invited her daughter and family to stay at her home every summer. Mark and his family also visited often.
Rachel had a generous heart, giving of her time and talents to church, family, friends and those in need. She and her husband were strong supporters of the Right to Life Charity, donating both their time and money.
Rachel was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. She will be remembered for her warm heart, sweet smile, and compassion for others. Rachel loved and was loved by many people in her lifetime and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice of Richmond and the staff at Springs Arbor Cottage of Salisbury for their tender care of Rachel in her final days.
