Robert Eugene Blackwell, 70, of Midlothian, Virginia. Died peacefully in his home on June 3, 2018.
Born in Narrows Virginia June 6, 1947, he is preceded in death by his parents; Robert B. Blackwell and Mabel K. Heath. His sister Cynthia L. Fogg and his great grandson Michael G. Blackwell.
He is survived by his long time devoted friend, Carolyn Helgeson. His daughters, Christina L. Basile, Teressa L. Bixler and Michelle L. Blackwell. His grandchildren Tiffany L. White, Joshua Peter Basile, Robert A. Blackwell (Brittany) Lowell L. Provence, Sarah L. Provence (Jeffrey), Emily M. Blackwell and Josephine N. Blackwell. Great grand-children Kaydence B. White, Adrian R. Perry, Ashton G. Perry, Isabella S. Kiser, Gabriella N. Kiser. His sister Vikki McIlwain (Terry) and several nieces and nephews.
Robert (Bob) Blackwell graduated from Highland Springs in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Bob was a sergeant, serving in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969. He received the Good Conduct, Campaign, Marksman and Sharp Shooter badges during his service.
Bob worked for the family business once he returned, they went on to build the Town & Country Mkts grocery store chain and had several locations throughout Virginia. He loved the meat department and became a self-taught butcher. He also taught himself to be the IT Department as the times changed.
A long-time Trekkie (the original of course), he loved to work outside in his yard, take the boat out on the lake and listen to Eric Clapton.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Woody’s Funeral Home, Huguenot chapel.
