Ronald Dale Snelling, 69, of Midlothian, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife Beth Elaine Snelling; and his parents, John Wayne and Ann Elaine Snelling.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Mary Lynn Snelling (Michael Skidmore) and Julie Ann Snelling; his sister, Wanda Cox (Craig); and his brother, Kenneth Snelling (Kathy).
Ron was born on July 22, 1954 in Boonville, MO. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Drury University in 1976. Ron attended Louisiana State University where he earned a PhD. in Chemistry in 1984. Throughout his career as a chemist, Ron was a polymath, serving as a research scientist, technical consultant, and trainer. He was responsible for the development and implementation of chemical testing standards and process development in a variety of industries.
Ron was a loving husband to Beth for almost 35 years, and together they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. He guided and supported his children, Mary Lynn and Julie Ann, as they pursued their own passions and dreams. Ron was a willing servant to his two cats, Dapper Dan and Canoe, who provided comfort and companionship throughout his battle with cancer.
It was difficult to get to know Ron, but once you did you were not disappointed. Everyone that knew him remarked on his intelligence. It can be said that Ron was never so full of himself that there wasn’t room for others. He was always playing practical jokes on people, watching a sporting event, or enjoying a ride on his motorcycle. Ron was a faithful member of Passion Community Church – Midlothian and Steel Horse Harley Davidson Owners Group. Although Ron often didn’t say much, the looks he gave said everything.
Visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be at Passion Community Church – Midlothian on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Passion Community Church or The American Cancer Society.
