

Rose Sledd, 86, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 after a prolonged illness. Rose grew up in Elmont, Va. and graduated from St. Patrick's High School. Rose married William Lee "Bill" Spicer and they were happily married for 45 years. The loving mother of four retired from the Federal Reserve after 20 years of service. Rose was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafting. Rose always lived life to the fullest, enjoying music, travel and many good times with her loving family and friends. She danced her way into the '80's as an active participant in the Quarles Senior Center Friday night dances. Rose and her love for living life will be profoundly missed. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee "Bill" Spicer; and her grandson, Mark Christopher Hall. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Spicer Hall (Stuart); sons, John Lewis Spicer (Susan), Richard Thomas Spicer (Claire) and William Joseph Spicer (Mary Ann); seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Hall (Colleen), Tim Hall (Natalie), Ashley Hall, Carol Ann Mahan, Emily Spicer, Drew Spicer, Cameron Spicer and Dillon Spicer; her nine great-grandchildren, Grayson Hall, Jack Hall, Maeve Hall, Helen Hall, Charlotte Hall, Gracie Hall, Rachel Jones, Lizzie Mahan and Matt Mahan; also a sister, Madeline Johnson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road. A Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 14th and Perry St. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
