
She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion that will be deeply cherished by her family and friends.
Ruthie was a devoted mother to her daughter, Nancye Hunter ( Life partner Reggie), and her son, Acree Abbott IV (Wife Victoria). She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Amy Abbott, who passed away in 2018. Ruth’s strength and grace carried her family through that heartbreaking loss, and her enduring love for Amy never waned.
She is survived by her seven grandchildren: Courtney Hunter, Sarah Campbell (Husband Parker), Matt Hunter, James Gibson, Jack Gibson, Maelynn Abbott, and Scottie Abbott—each of whom brought great Joy to her life. Ruth was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Savannah, Landon, and Porter who lit up her later years with laughter and love.
Ruthie is also survived by her brother David Burton with whom she shared a lifelong connection filled with memories and mutual support.
Ruthie will be remembered not only for her warm smile and kind heart but also for her deep appreciation of life’s simple pleasures—especially a good glass of wine shared in meaningful conversation. As a wine lover, Ruthie enjoyed celebrating everyday moments with elegance and joy.
Her life was marked by quiet generosity, deep faith in family, and commitment to caring for others. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor at Woody’s Funeral Home Huguenot on Friday, August 22 from 11am-1pm with a reception to follow at Salisbury Country Club 1:30pm-3pm.
