Ryan was born February 8, 1974, in Alexandria, VA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Walter Hoggan III, his paternal grandparents Robert W. Hoggan II and Betty Mae Holcombe, and his maternal grandparents Nick Kereluk and Katherin W. Juhl. He is survived by his wife, Christine, his mother, Sandi, his sisters Debby and Angie, brother Kelly, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Hattie Mae and Piper. Ryan’s life was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. His incredibly warm smile and unwavering devotion to his family, and constant support for his friends, will be profoundly missed.
Ryan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and was a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity. While at VCU, he met the love of his life, Christine. He fell hard in love, and on August 20, 2000, they were married in a small, intimate ceremony, in Manteo, NC, beginning a beautiful life together. They shared a passion for adventure, travel, concerts, good books, Broadway shows, and taking long walks while raising their adorable pets. Ryan’s love for Christine was unwavering and evident in everything he did. One of his greatest joys was also being father to "his girls," Hattie Mae and Piper. He loved children and was jokingly referred to as "king of the little people," as he would often wander off with his nieces, nephews and his friends' children and play with them like the big kid he was.
Ryan was an avid runner and fan of the Washington Commanders, Washington Capitals, Baltimore Orioles, and VCU basketball.
Above all, Ryan instilled his intelligence, easy going nature and genuine kindness with everyone he met. Known for his great sense of humor and “slivers of truth," he always knew how to make people laugh. He was a wealth of knowledge, and everyone’s first pick at family gatherings to play Trivial Pursuit and Taboo.
Ryan was deeply loved and treasured as a devoted husband, the best dog dad, and a source of joy and cherished memories that will remain in our hearts forever. He left this world far too soon, leaving behind a profound impact on all who knew him. God has welcomed a beautiful soul, and we know he will continue to watch over and guide us from above. May he rest in peace until we are reunited
