SPENCE, Stephen Reynold, was born in Ontario, Canada and died at his home in Midlothian, Va., on May 7, 2015, at age 61. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond, Va. at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015.
On many occasions, Steve said that he was the luckiest man in the world. And though the unconditional love of his family and his successes in life were enviable, the truth is that we were the lucky ones for having known him. He always placed others above himself. Steve loved his family more than most people love anything. He was a rock of support for his wife, Morag, as well as his mother, Joyce and father, Murray. For his four children and six grandchildren, he was a model for what a good man should be. And more broadly, he showed all of us what it really means to be a friend.
Forever generous with his time, advice, money and love, he was a man who enjoyed nothing more than giving to others and putting smiles on our faces. In return, we gave him our respect, admiration, and unrelenting love. Steve -- husband, dad, son, grandpa, brother, and friend - we miss you now and always will. From the very bottom of our wounded hearts, thank you for everything you have done for us. There will never be another like you.
Steve is survived by his wife, Morag; parents, Murray and Joyce; brothers, Ken and Rick; sons, Kevin, Michael and Brian; their spouses, D. Ann, Jessica, and Kelly; daughter, Abby; her fiancé, Ryan; and grandchildren, Anissa, Emory, Brenner, Sara, Cadence and Ainsley. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to Friends of the Homeless at RichmondFriendsOfTheHomeless.org Condolences may be left at woodyfuneralhomeHuguenot.com.
