She was born on September 24, 1960, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and spent most of her life in the Chesterfield area. Susan received her early education at St. Edward’s Catholic School in North Chesterfield and graduated from Midlothian High School in 1978. She went on to complete her studies at the Braxton School of Business, further developing her professional skills. She worked in various roles over the years and most recently served as a secretary for a home building company. Known as a dedicated and dependable employee, she took great pride in her work and was valued for her reliability, thoroughness, and strong sense of responsibility in everything she did. Above all, she was most proud of being a mother and devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her two sons.
Family was always at the center of Susan’s life. She remained closely connected to her parents and honored their memory throughout her life. As a sister, she treasured her relationships with her brothers and her late sister, thoughtfully keeping in touch and maintaining strong family bonds across the years. As a mother, she dedicated herself fully to her two sons, who were the joy of her life. In recent years, she proudly embraced the role of grandmother, joyfully answering to her new title “Gigi.” Alongside her family, Susan also had a lifelong love of dogs. Her most recent companion, Baleigh, was her trusted friend and constant source of comfort for many years until late 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George G. Sibold and Patricia Louise Sibold, and her sister, Julie Sibold.
She is survived by her sons, Samuel Paarfus and Brandon Paarfus; her beloved granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Paarfus; and her four brothers, Grady Sibold, Steve Sibold, Patrick Sibold, and Chris Sibold.
Her devotion to family came through in her diligent record-keeping, as she carefully preserved photos, letters, and mementos from the lives of her parents, siblings, and sons. These collections were treasures she often revisited to reflect on precious memories, and she delighted in reaching out to loved ones to reminisce together. She found joy in retelling family stories, sharing old photographs, and reminding others of the laughter, milestones, and moments that bound them. In this way, Susan not only kept the past alive but also deepened the connections she held so dearly in the present.
Susan also had a deep love for the outdoors. She found peace and joy at the beach in Cape Hatteras, where she spent meaningful days with family, and at the family mountain house in Amherst County, where countless gatherings created memories that filled her keepsakes. Both places remained close to her heart, representing the love, joy, and connection she valued most in life.
Caring, witty, and creative, Susan will be remembered for her warmth and the love she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured by all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held at Woody Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond Animal League or the Richmond SPCA.
