Alice Hansen

Our beautiful, petite, blue-eyed Danish Mom passed through the veil into the arms of her loving sweetheart of 59 years on Gordon's 85th birthday, Thursday, September 26, 2013 after a short separation of 139 days. Alice was born to Aage and Karen Bømervang Stilling on May 7, 1928 in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her formative years, Alice endured the Nazi occupation of Denmark during WWII, developing much strength and courage from the challenges of the times. After the war she was introduced to and gained a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In May of 1950 she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Priorvej Chapel in Copenhagen. With her newfound faith she immigrated to the USA and settled in SLC, Utah. She would meet and marry the love of her life, her farm boy, Gordon Lee Hansen. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 24, 1954, settling in Rupert, Idaho, where they homesteaded for ten years before moving permanently to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1964. They were blessed with 4 beautiful children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Alice worked as an accountant in several different jobs, the longest being with the S.L. County Auditor's office, where she made lasting friendships and loved working with "her girls." She retired after 30 years of service in May 2013. Alice held various church callings throughout her life but the one that gave her the greatest joy was serving in the Salt Lake Temple with her husband. She was always the lovely well groomed lady, forever proud of her heritage, fiercely devoted and loyal to her family and children. Alice was the champion of the underdog who could not bear to so much as swat a fly.

Survived by her children Serida, Shari, Kim, Kevin, their spouses, 9 grandchldren and 5 great- grandchildren, who mourn her loss and yet are grateful to know that she is now free from infirmity.

Funeral services to be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fortuna Ward Chapel, 4407 Fortuna Way, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30 ~ 10:45 a.m.
