She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. Anna Marie was born July 23, l939 in Providence, Cache, Utah to George E. Bankhead and Anna Hansen Bankhead. She was the second of five children.
She married Richard Walter Perkins in the Logan Temple, August 5th, l960. They strived to build a good marriage and loving family.
She attended Providence Elementary School; graduated from South Cache High School in 1957; attended Utah State University. She was very active in singing, dancing, sports, and was Drum Majorette of the South Cache High School band, where she also played the snare drum; was member of the Pep Club. She was a Cache Valley Dairy Princess.
After marriage, she worked full time so Richard could finish college and work on his M.B.A.. From 1962-64 they went into active duty where Richard was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army branch of the military. They moved to Salt Lake City for Richard to attend the University of Utah College of Law. He graduated in l967. She worked and earned her P.H.T. (Putting Hubby Through) degree.
She was a partner in the Just Perfect Hair and Nail Salon. Was a Pink Lady volunteer at Primary Children’s Hospital. She served in P.T.A. and Room Mother many times. She attended a lot of basketball, football and gymnastics games at the U of U. Also enjoyed going to the theater. Enjoyed tole painting with friends.. Had a doll collection which she treasured.
Family, church and friends were very important to Anna Marie. The biggest joy in her life was her dear family! Husband Richard, son Galen and daughter Tami were her pride and joy. When grandchildren Samantha Marie, Brooklyn Elise, Katelyn Anna and Jaxon Richard came into her life, it was the love, sunshine, joy, fun, and happiness of her life. She loved being with her dear family and friends. Treasured the many years of friendship with her “Lunch Bunch” girl friends. She loved attending all the children’s activities and performances. She treasured memories of their fun vacations and time together. That was the love and sunshine and cherished times in her life.
Anna Marie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many positions: Stake Relief Society President, Stake Counselor and Stake Secretary; Stake Young Women President, Assistant President, Stake Age Group Counselor, Stake Mia Maid Leader; Activity Counselor, Teacher. Served in the Primary. Many ward callings: Relief Society Secretary, Homemaking Teacher ,Visiting Teacher and teacher. She loved being a Visiting Teacher for many years. She cherished the friendships made in all her callings. She loved people and serving others. Was a member of Daughter's of Utah Pioneers.
She was faced with many serious health challenges and had great faith in the Lord and his healing powers. Her life was spared several times. She was grateful for her life. And loved the life she had.
She is preceded in death by her loving companion and husband Richard, of 57 years, precious daughter Tami, her parents, sister, and grandparents and other family members.
She is survived by her son Galen (Lyndie), and four beautiful grandchildren: Samantha Koehler (Tami's daughter), Brooklyn Perkins Donaldson (Ben) , Katelyn Perkins and Jaxon Perkins. Also her special brothers: Eddie (Lynn) Bankhead, Michael (Lyn) Bankhead, and Dan (Pam) Bankhead and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
A viewing will be held March 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S. Highland Drive. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 7th 2023 at the East Mill Creek 16th Ward, 3408 S Celeste Way Salt Lake City, Utah 84109, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
