He was born to William and Ruth Raiford on August 26, 1936 in Many, Louisiana. He was the youngest of four children. He moved with his family to Houston, TX at the age of 14. He survived a serious illness when he was six years old, and greatly surpassed the doctor's predictions that he wouldn't live to see his 11th birthday. He fought valiantly for many, many years despite serious health problems.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Wiseman, in the Salt Lake Temple on January 10, 1969. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings over the years, including serving as a Ward Clerk for 17 years. He worked in many different occupations throughout his life. He retired in 1999 after working for the LDS Church for 13 years.
His family was his greatest treasure. He loved traveling (especially road trips), camping, and anything that involved being with his family. He was an avid football fan and loved attending BYU games. He was our fix-it man. He could fix anything and was ingenious in coming up with creative solutions to all kinds of problems. He loved tinkering with his endless supply of tools and gadgets and being in the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; his children RaChelle Bo (Michael), Lori Bisquera (Erico), and David Raiford (Denza); 11 grandchildren; his brothers Willard (Jeraline) and Truman (Betty). He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Kenneth), and grandson, Brandon.
