Basil was a great friend to us all. He always brought a smile to my face and cared about others, especially on our DC trip. He kept us entertained on all the bus trips and did the same everywhere else he was. I can’t recall a moment where he did anything to hurt me since the day I met him in kindergarten and he quickly accepted me into his friend group this year after my best friend left our school.  I will never forgot the memories I made with him. The world will never be quite right without Basil and I will miss him dearly.

I knew basil for 8 months but the months I knew him was the best! The first time i met him was at the pool he said your so tall! He asked how old I was and said ten and we started laughing. One week later me and my other friend Jack  Dykstra and Katie Turner  went with him. That was  so fun! I miss you basil. You will be Remembered in my hart and a lot of other peoples Hart’s. I miss you. I can’t play Xbox with out you my team.

We are sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the hope of seeing our loved ones who have passed away on a paradise earth under perfect conditions. You are in our thoughts and prayers. 

Basil loved this picture, he would always say how it perfectly it captured his hair. I never knew anyone who took so much pride in the perfecttion of his quiff. The whole DC trip he made sure I had a compact mirror in my bag so he could check his hair and make sure it was as amazing as always.

Dearest Basil,
You were a part of a big family who loves and cares for you so much! My first memory is of your birth. I was there with your mom as she brought you into this world. You were such a bright, kind, and loving boy. You adored your mother and your siblings, Jordy and Chayse. We all had so much fun on the trampoline, the water park, BBQs,  and hikes in the hills. I love and miss you sweet boy! Give your mom a hug for me!

I love you Basil. You were one of the best friends I have ever have and ever will have. The past 9 years of my life with you has been so much fun. 

But in all those nine years my favorite memory with you is back in February and we had been on the phone for like an hour and you said something that you had thought I had no clue about. But I did and you said “Remind me to never underestimate you again.” I laughed really hard. 

Or maybe it was the time that you were standing in the parking lot of the church next to our school and we pulled up next to you and asked you if you wanted to come get doughnuts with us. You did, and I have no idea why, but you decided you were gonna get in my super messy car with me, my mom, my 2 sisters, and Bella and go get a maple doughnut. 

My point is I will miss you forever Basil and the Jeffs will never be the same with out you bud. I love you and I will never forget you.

Basil is truly the most selfless child I know. He always remembered what was going on in our home or what I was thinking about as a parent with Ahnika. He kept trying to give me a puppy this past litter- which would give us a total of 6... and this past birthday in May, Basil was a part of giving me a Birthday cake! Bae was my adopted child, and kept me in stitches on the phone. I love you sweetie, I have been so blessed to have you in my life! Xoxoxoxo Momma2 

I don't have a favorite memory of Basil because all of the Time I spent with him was amazing basil had been my neighbor for such a long time we liked to play football xbox and go to the gas station and buy snacks. I am sad to see that you passed away buddy.

Basil was without a doubt one of the sweetest kids I have ever met. We always enjoyed having him over for sleepovers with Brachen.  A lot of times we would play board games and board games can get pretty serious at our house. One time in particular I will never forget....We were playing Risk. Basil could tell that I was struggling and that I really didn’t know how to play. He decided to become my ally. I will never forget it and how he genuinely felt bad for me. I still lost and stomped up to my room that night. I remember waking up the next morning feeling embarrassed. For I had acted like the child and he the adult. I thought about that game often. I was always so impressed by him. He was always so polite and easy to be around.  Truly a special kid.  Jeremy and I really enjoyed having him around and will always cherish our memories of him. Rest In Peace sweet boy ❤️

My favorite memory with Basil was when we were at a pool party. We were invited and we were so excited to go. When we got there, food was everywhere everyone was laughing and had a good time. We get into the pool and we got to get used to the water. He wanted to go jump off this rock ledge that they had in their pool, and I was super scared and I didn't want to go on. It was scary to me being so young. He got me to go up there and I was about ready to cry. I remember him pushing me off the ledge and me falling and screaming. I got back up from the water seeing him laugh and smiling. He was so happy in fact that I laughed with him. Just goes to show that with a little nudge you can be happy.

As others have shared Basil was such a good friend to us all - even me as an adult. Jack D, my son and Basil basically started school together. There are too many good memories to share, from trick or treating, to playing xbox, to supporting each other in their sports, or just hanging out. Each and every moment with Basil was special. 

This particular photo was one of the many times they went to Air borne to push themselves on the "american ninja" style courses or just trying to get the biggest air possible. 

While I am heartbroken we can't create new memories with you, Basil, I'm so grateful for the for the ones you made with your loved ones and all your friends. 

Whenever I needed someone to talk to, and this is 100% honest, I’d text you. You meant so much to me. I miss you basil. See ya later. 

Basil, you were funny and had such a kind heart.  Thank you so much for being part of my team on the American History tour.  Those memories will last forever.  You were a great friend to so many.  You had a way of making others feel important and you were important to us.  Our whole family loved you.  We will miss you!   May God watch over you until we meet again.

basil was my best friend, he was the only one who really understood me and my life. he cared so much for all of us and loved everyone. even though I only knew him for 4 years It felt like longer. basil helped me when I was struggling with math and homework or anything else, he was the one I trusted with anything. Basil was the best friend you could ever ask for. And I know we all miss him so very dearly. ❤️
