Our dear sweet Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and favorite preschool teacher, passed away in her home peacefully in her sleep on August 23, 2025 at the age of 76. Carol Ann was born on May 18, 1949 in Sugarhouse, Utah, to her loving parents, Harold “Hank” Naylor and Althara “Sue” Shaw Naylor. Her joyous birth brought so much happiness to her parents that even though she was born in May, they named her Carol after the beautiful Christmas Carols.
Carol Ann’s early life was filled with climbing trees, playing with dolls, dancing, playing the piano, and spending time visiting her grandparents. She was an outstanding student and graduated from Highland High School and Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education.
Carol Ann met the love of her life, Robbie Palmer, during her senior year of high school and they have been inseparable ever since. After Robbie served a mission in Hawaii for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were married in the Laie Hawaiian Temple. They were the perfect pair, and are the ideal of a beautiful eternal marriage. Together, they raised five wonderful children who are the joys of their life. They created a strong family focused on love, kindness, service, and unity. Their family motto was “All for One and One for All” which she lived to the fullest in supporting every activity, performance, game, and event. She led her family with warmth, wisdom, and love. Her favorite scripture was “Be of Good Cheer” and she always had a positive attitude and a happy smile on her face. She had the cutest personality and was so full of fun! She celebrated every holiday to the fullest and made everyone around her feel extra loved and important.
Carol’s talent for teaching children was a gift to the world. She blessed the lives of over 1,500 children through teaching Head Start, Kindergarten, and in her own Palmer Preschool for over 40 years. She had a special “magic” that could reach every child’s heart. Her little students knew that she truly loved them, believed in them, and that they would always be her forever friends. Teaching brought her such happiness and fulfillment as her days were filled with children’s laughter, hugs, singing, dancing, art, and learning.
Carol was a true disciple of Christ and a covenant-keeping woman. She had the strongest and purest testimony, and led her life in the most Christlike way. Her lifelong church service began at the age of 14 when she was called to be a Primary “Moonbeam” teacher. She loved serving in the Primary, Young Women’s, Relief Society, and in the Salt Lake Temple. She also served as a stake and interfaith missionary.
One of her greatest titles was “Daughter of God.” Carol loved reading and studying all of the beautiful stories in the scriptures and listening to talks and discussions about Jesus Christ which she would then teach to her children and grandchildren. She had a strong testimony of prayer and Priesthood blessings. She was full of faith and believed in miracles.
Carol Ann was welcomed into heaven by her parents, sister (Marlene Larsen), brother (George Naylor), and granddaughter Emma Buchanan. Carol Ann is survived by her husband, Robert Reed Palmer, and her family: Rachel and Brian Buchanan (Annabelle & Dallen, Clara, Henry, Ella, Finn); Robert and Sara Palmer (Charlie, Alexandra, Sammy, Freddie); Rebecca and Billy Reif (Abby & Dallin (Asher, Max), Rachel (Roman), Jack, Ryan, Gracie, George, Rosie); Suzy and Dallas Browning (Sam & Lexi, Hugo, Belle); John and Janessa Palmer (Hank, Jack, Teddy, and a soon to be new baby girl). She also leaves behind her faithful companion Jack the dog.
She was truly an angel on earth and we will always strive to be like her. We love you forever, with all of our hearts. We are honored to be your family.
Visitations for Carol will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 10:00-11:30 AM at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, 3750 S Hillside Ln, Salt Lake City, UT 84109. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM.
Carol will be laid to rest in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT 84106.
