

Crystal Jorde Lowry, 83 of Layton, Utah passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, due to complications of Coronavirus and Alzheimer's. The funeral service will be on Monday, December 28th at 2 pm followed by a graveside service at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary - 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah. Born in a log cabin in Arrowcreek, Creston, British Columbia, Canada with her grandmothers as midwives. She spent her childhood in southern British Columbia, and as a teenager moved to Whitehorse, Yukon, with her parents Mel and Leone, and brothers Garth and Ted. In high school she was crowned Ms. Yukon Territory. She was a talented student and excelled in singing and acting. Crystal received a scholarship for university and graduated as an RN from the Royal Jubilee Hospital School of Nursing of the University of British Columbia in 1960. She worked as a nurse for many years.
At age 24 she moved to Los Angeles where she met and later married John Lowry in the Los Angeles Temple. They later lived in Washington D.C., Milwaukee, and Rome Italy before settling in Medina, Ohio. While living in Rome she was able to visit many countries with her family. Throughout her life she was active in the LDS church, enjoyed playing piano, singing in the choir, taking her children to sporting events, and telling stories of her childhood in rural Canada. After her husband passed away in 1995, she moved to Layton, Utah where we had many happy memories together. For the past several years she lived with her daughter Elaine and her family.
Crystal was a kind, caring person, a sister, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her parents, husband John, siblings Garth, Bryce, Melvin, Faye, Jewel, still-born son Matthew, and grandson Hakeem. Survived by her brother Ted, children John (Brenda), Dan (Ena), Elaine (Irfan), Colleen, Ben (Rachel), Mike (Brooke), Allison, and 13 grandchildren: Toby, Sam, Alek, Ian, Ibrahim, Yusuf, Jasmine, Abby, Isaac, Soren, Hannah, Kaiya, and Eilee.
