

Dan was born October 10, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Norman Calvin Hall and Leona E (Green) Cox. Dan spent most of his childhood in the Sugarhouse area, which was full of friends, adventures, movies, and moving several times. During high school, he played many sports and worked as a cook at Harman’s Cafe (Kentucky Fried Chicken). Dan graduated from Highland High School in 1961. After graduation, he worked at Litton Electronics and attended classes at Salt Lake Technical School.
Dan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in the Texas Mission from 1964 - 1966.
After returning from his mission, Dan met and dated Connie Jean (Hunter) Hall. They were married on August 24, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Boise, Idaho, before returning to Salt Lake City and sharing over fifty years of marriage.
Dan worked as a Copier Technician at Xerox Corporation until his retirement in 2003. He specialized in repairing Xerox machines for corporations around the Salt Lake Valley, Ogden, and Provo.
Dan dedicated his life to his family and neighbors. Dan especially loved working with his hands on various hobbies and interests. He loved baseball and played many years in the church ball teams until he couldn’t pitch anymore. He loved repairing cars, appliances, and homes. Dan and Connie built their last home in Cottonwood Heights together in 1979, and Dan spent his time fixing and remodeling it as their family grew and changed. He particularly loved computers and enjoyed working with the hardware and software. He loved any vehicle and had a vast knowledge of each one. He always had a project, even up to the day of his death. He never stopped working to make his families’ lives better.
Dad was a long-time member of the Butler 11th Ward in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and was fully dedicated to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Church. He was known for helping widows and single mothers in the ward with anything from computers to appliance repairs. He served as a counselor in multiple bishoprics, executive secretary to two stake presidents, ward clerk, gospel doctrine teacher, and primary worker. He was known to always put others' needs before his own.
Dan and Connie were called to serve as office missionaries in the Salt Lake City South Mission from 2013 to 2014.
Dan married Saundra Lowther Penz Hall on February 1, 2020, in the Jordan River Temple after the death of Connie and enjoyed loving and serving her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren while living in Heber, Utah.
Dan is survived by his wife, Saundra Lowther Penz Hall; children, Amy Lee (David) Anderson, Angelyn (Joseph) Kempe, Alicia Ann (Rich) Woodruff, and Ariane (Mark) Nielson; and seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, James Hall; sister, Jennifer (Hall) Kelsey.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Jean (Hunter) Hall; his father, Norman Hall; his mother, Leona (Green) Cox; his brothers, Larry E. and Kenneth Lee Hall; his children, Richard and Emily Hall; and his grandchildren, Hanna Karen Anderson, Jordan Danielle, and Emily Joanna Kempe.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1 pm at the Butler West Stake Center Building (1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah). A viewing will be held at the same location from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
