

Darlene Thomas Palmer passed away peacefully of pancreatic cancer in her home on Monday, June 11, 2012. She was surrounded by her family who loves her and will miss her dearly. She was born on October 20, 1933 in Eagar, Arizona to David G. Thomas and Eunice P. Thomas. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah where she was involved with Tri-Delta Sorority. She taught 1st grade in Salt Lake City School District. Darlene married Quinton T. Palmer on December 19, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She served faithfully in many church callings and enjoyed the members of her ward. Quin and Darlene served a mission to South Africa from 1994 to 1995. She thrived in her role as mother to 4 and grandma to 11. Darlene enjoyed her association with Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, eating out with her East High friends and her lunch bunch group. She will miss water walking with her dear friend Raili.
She is survived by her husband, Quinton, her four children, Julie (Peter) Wallace, Tom (Ruth) Palmer, Robert (BobbiJo) Palmer, Allison (Ricardo) Villarini. Her brothers D. Ray (Carol) Thomas and Al Ralph (Pat) Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her younger sister Ruth (Dave) Smith.
