

David was born on May 16, 1944 in Salt Lake City to Howard J and Myrtle Lewis Russell. He graduated from Highland High School in 1963. Following graduation he served in the Army Reserves. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New York, New York City Mission during the 1964 World’s Fair. Upon returning home from his mission he joined his father and his three brothers in the family business – Russell’s Ice Cream. He married Eileen Sue Scott on February 8, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Millcreek and Holladay where they raised their four children.
David was a great man of faith and served his church in many callings. He quietly blessed the lives of others with great love and compassion. His kindness and generosity were known to many. He never hesitated to come to the aid of those in need.
He loved and lived life with passion and adventure. He shared his love of flying, boating and diving with family and friends. The greatest joy of his life was his wife and children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen and his four children; Tiffany (Curtis) Olsen, Craig, Jeff (Leslie) and Ryan (Cami). He is survived by 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Lynnette) and Lynn (Dianne). He was preceded in death by his twin brother Douglas (Pam).
A viewing will be held Monday, September 16th from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT, 84106). Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on September 17th at the Holladay 28th Ward building (2625 Milo Way, Holladay UT). Family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to all friends and family who have been so supportive during his struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
As a husband, father and friend he will be remembered as a fearless man of strength and courage that set an example which will always be cherished.
