Debbie was born on October 22nd 1956, adopted as a newborn she was a delight to her parents and the apple of her dad’s eye. She was raised and lived all of her life in and around the East Millcreek area close to her dad’s family, with many uncles, aunts and cousins to play with. Debbie was a lively youngster; enjoying the outdoors, fishing at the family’s cabin on Strawberry Reservoir, participating with her parents at the American Legion Holladay Post #71 and riding her bike everywhere, which could explain her love of motorcycles that came later in life.
Debbie attended the local schools in the area including Libbie Edwards Elementary, Evergreen Jr. High and graduated from Olympus High School in 1975. It was at school that she met and formed a lifelong friendship with her BFF and “kid sister” Sharon Dorius Snipes.
Together they enjoyed many rambunctious adventures which they would happily recount to anyone who would listen with laughter and nostalgia. Debbie earned the nickname ‘The Tasmanian Devil’ a kindred spirit of sorts. Thankfully those days came to an end, but the friendship lingered on as Debbie and Sharon have endured through the good times and life’s challenges, supporting each other every step of the way.
Debbie struggled with many trials during her lifetime and maybe because of them she was able to lift others when they were feeling down. Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes would bring a smile to your own face, especially if she was sharing her sense of humor, she was a “hoot!” Debbie gave great hugs, many of which her dog Gizmo was the recipient. She also cared for and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in the yard year around.
She learned the gift of humility, accepting help from others and expressing gratitude for whatever assistance she was given. Debbie took pride in her appearance and had a keen sense of what she did and didn’t like. It was a well-known fact that she wanted to be buried in her Harley Davidson Leathers.
We are grateful that Debbie is now reunited with her family, at peace in mind and body and on to her next adventure. Ride On Deb!
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Darma H. and James L. Allen and her sibling James L. Allen Jr.
She is survived by her loving dog Gizmo, Sharon Dorius Snipes and family, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
