Diane Louise Bennett

Diane Louise Bennett returned home to Jesus on February 27, 2024, at the age of 82, after a sudden and unexpected illness. She was born in Dearborn Michigan on November 13, 1941, to Michael Paciorka and Elizabeth Sumigolski, the oldest of their three children.

Born to devout Christian parents, she grew to know and love the Lord at an early age and spent the rest of her life as a faithful Christ follower.

She graduated from Melvindale High School in 1960, where she was voted ‘Best Dressed’. After High School, she took courses in Accounting and Business.

She married Ralph Lee Bennett in 1972. The marriage ended in divorce in 1973, shortly after the birth of their daughter, Rhonda. Diane never remarried.

In 1973, she started a career with Great Lakes Steel Company, working in Accounts Payable, where she spent 22 years. In 1994, at the age of 53, she took an early retirement, and moved to Utah to live near her only child. She enjoyed keeping busy, so she began working as a seasonal employee for the IRS, where she spent seven years, and qualified for a second retirement.

Diane had a tender heart and a sensitive spirit. She was a very private person and cherished a few deep relationships. She loved God’s creatures, the mountains, gardening and baking, and the warm desert of St. George Utah, where she lived from 2006 to 2021. During that time, she had the honor of knowing Brian and Carolyn Gaarder, her dear and beloved friends and neighbors, who cherished her and cared for her during many times of need.

Diane is survived by her only daughter, Rhonda Bennett Hypio (Andrew); her six nieces, Tammy Harris Liangos, Christine Harris, Rebecca Harris Lyle, Michelle Pack, Amy Pack Diakiw, and Jennifer Pack Perry; her nephew David Harris; seven great nieces and five great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Elizabeth Paciorka (Pack), her sister, Judy Kathleen Harris, and her brother, Dennis Melvin Pack.

Diane was laid to rest at the beautiful Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 5, 2024.
