Diane Berg

1970 ~ 2011

Loving mommy, wife, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor and colleague, Diane Barnes Berg, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.

She was born on July 3, 1970 to Gordon H. and Enid Swenson Barnes in Salt Lake City, Utah. Diane graduated from Skyline High School in 1988, where she was active in dance and the La Nichee drill team. She attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

After college Diane was employed by Fidelity Investments, where she met Darrin John Berg. They fell in love and were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, on May 6, 1994. Together they enjoyed companionship, and active membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the parenting of their three beloved children.

Diane offered selfless and devoted service to her family, church, and extended family of friends. She was often first to volunteer and last to take credit for her many contributions. She will be especially missed by the Holladay 25th and 18th wards and its Primary and Young Women’s groups.

Her creative personal touch enhanced and enriched where ever it was applied. She had an inherent sense for what to do and how to do it with style. Diane carried on her mother’s legacy of a love for the piano, playing long before her feet could reach the pedals. Always a kid at heart, she loved going to Disneyland and passed along this tradition to her children.

Her graceful approach to living had a profound impact on many. Diane’s quiet, confident, caring style will be missed greatly by her loving children and husband as well as family, friends and neighbors throughout their community in Holladay. Those who knew her will miss her wry sense of humor, contagious laughter, and dazzling smile.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother Enid Swenson Barnes. She is survived by her husband, Darrin, and her three children: John-David, Christian, Elizabeth; her father, Gordon H. Barnes; her sister and brother-in-law, Julie Barnes and Louis E. Deaux of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The funeral will be held Monday, January 10th, 2011 at Holladay Stake Center, 4917 Viewmont St. 84117 in Holladay, at noon. Friends may call Sunday evening, January 9th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, and 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations for the children’s education are being accepted under the Diane Barnes Berg Education Fund account at any Zion’s Bank location.

The family wishes to thank friends, neighbors and work associates for their outpouring of love and support.
