

Donald Salzner Shepard passed away in the early morning hours of April 20, 2016 after suffering the disabling effects of Inclusion Body Myositis for several years. He was born in Salt Lake City on November 28, 1933 to Harold Griffin Shepard and Edith Dulcie Salzner Shepard. He grew up in the Sugarhouse area where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated from South High in 1952 and attended the University of Utah.
He married Karen Ruth Hook on August 4, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple and they became the parents of two sons and two daughters. Don worked for Skaggs Drugs for many years, beginning in Salt Lake, then in Colorado, Texas and Arizona, returning and becoming a Skaggs manager in Salt Lake City. After retiring from Skaggs, Don worked as a sales consultant in many different areas of the United States and then as a manufacturers rep with Burdett Associates.
After Karen's death on January 17, 1995, he was introduced to Norda Smith Tenney by mutual friends and they were married on February 6, 1999, enjoying 17 years together.
Don had a great love for the Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served faithfully throughout his life in Bishoprics, High Priest groups and as a missionary with his wife, Norda, in the Family and Church History Mission. He was serving as the High Priest Secretary at the time of his death.
Don is survived by his wife Norda; his children: Carol Shepard, Julie Bellon, Bradley (Jill Diamond) Shepard, Gregory (Margie Brown) Shepard; two step-children: LuAnn Tenney and Michael Tenney; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother Kent (Karen) Shepard, and sister Annette Carrol; also many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his first wife Karen, his parents and a granddaughter Jennifer Rigby Stam.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Hillcrest 1st Ward, 8485 S. 1000 E., Sandy, UT, with a viewing from 10:45 - 11:45 AM. A viewing will also be held Monday, April 25, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, UT. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
