Dorothy Mae Reynolds Hanke, 86, passed away September, 17, 2012 in Murray, Utah. She was born October 11, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Paul and Ethel Reynolds. She attended South High School. Dorothy married Charles Ralston Hanke on December 28, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dorothy was a sweet, caring woman. She was a long-standing member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing with the choir. She was proud to be able to serve as a deacon. She loved her family including the cats and dogs that shared her life over the years. She was a good friend and loved getting together for camping, playing cards, and socializing. She had a kind and generous spirit and liked to do things for others, such as when she threw an awesome 80th birthday party for her husband. Even when she was suffering from the effects of dementia, her sweet nature was evident to her caregivers. She is survived by her son, David Hanke, and daughter Julie (David) Clawson. Preceded in death by husband Charles, sister Elise Reynolds, daughters Suzanne and Laura Lynn. We are lucky that Dorothy was our Mom – We love her and will miss her very much. The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staffs of Highland Cove Assisted Living, Mount Olympus Rehabilitation, Willow Wood Care Center, and Bristol Hospice for the many years of care and support they gave to Dorothy. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
