

Duane was born on May 12 1952 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to Chester and Evelyn Strand. He was the third of seven children. He loved to tell everyone that he was 14 pounds and had two teeth when he was born. His Catholic faith was very important to him.
In 1971 he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1976. While in the Army he worked on Huey Helicopters.
He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his Army service and his twenty-five years of sobriety.
Duane was a jack of all trades working in roofing, mechanics, security, delivering mail and many other trades.
Duane is survived by his children Wendi (Dan) VanDerhorst, Holly (Chris) Yengich, his grandchildren Jamie Berg, Jordan (Chelsea) Berg, his great grandchildren River, Aspen, Declan and Delilah. His sisters Nancy (Leland) Ward, Diane Krukenberg, Kathleen (John) Aubart and his brother Kenneth (Brenda) Strand.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Evelyn, siblings Chester Michael and Donald, grandson Jeffrey, and his former wife Jacqueline (Jaci) Strand, his sister-in-law Lynne Strand, and brother-in-law Marv Kruckenberg.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 2:00pm in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park viewing room. A brief graveside service will follow at 3:00pm.
