

1919 ~ 2011
Our beloved husband, father and son passed away peacefully July 16, 2011 with his wife and son at his side. The youngest of three children, born November 13, 1919 to Francis and Rebecca Yeager Stewart in Jensen, UT. He grew up working on the family ranch learning the value of hard work. Served honorably in the 2nd Ordinance Company in WWII, in the European Theatre including D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his return and a whirlwind two month courtship he married his sweetheart Luleen Shaw on September 19, 1946 in Elko, Nevada a relationship lasting almost 65 years.
George’s work in construction and welding took them to Idaho, Missouri, Nevada, and back to Utah to a home in Sugarhouse where they resided for 38 years raising their two sons. Upon retirement they became snowbirds wintering in Beaver Dam finally settling in Mesquite, Nevada. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, dominoes and took up golf at age 70, with a hole in one at age 79.
A loyal member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 46 years, serving as a Utah Delegate he enjoyed his morning meetings visiting with his AA friends.
Survived by his wife Luleen, son Larry (Sheryl), daughter-in-law Terri LaRock Stewart, grandchildren Bree & Kyle whom he loved very much. Preceded in death by parents, siblings Percy(Erma), June Stewart Brown (Red Stewart, Newell Brown) son Russell who has been waiting for a golf challenge with “Pops”. Special thanks to the VA Hospital, Superior Hospice (Mikey & Clint), friends Teresa, Shelly, John & Kathy, neighbors on Beverly Street and Augusta Hills for all their loving care.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, 11 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive. Friends and Family may call Wednesday 6-8 pm and Thursday 10-11 am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the DAV.
