

Gordon was born May 24, 1924 in Payson, Utah to Parley and Retta Loveless. He moved to Bingham Canyon in 1928 and considered Bingham and Copper ton his home. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1942 and was proud to be a Bingham Miner.
He was accepted in a Naval Officers program in 1943 where he met his sweetheart and future wife, Norma Lee Roberson at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating he married Norma Lee and served as an Engineering Officer on a destroyer at the end of World War II, and later with the Navy Seabees during the Korean War.
He graduated from the University of Utah in 1948 in Mechanical Engineering and started work for the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company as a machinist. From this beginning he worked 38 years for CB&I and retired as the Vice President and First Director. During his career Gordon lived and worked in Salt Lake City, Chicago, IL, Greenville, PA; as well as Tokyo, Japan and Sydney, Australia.
In his retirement he was a member of the Holladay Rotary Club and believed strongly in their motto: "Service Above Self." He worked as a volunteer "handy-man" for most of his retired life assisting the Ronald McDonald House, along with his friends and neighbors wherever he lived.
Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Norma, a baby boy, Larry, who died in 1954 at three months of age, as well as his parents and an older brother, Austin, and sister, Helen. Survived by brother, Duane, daughter, Judy Roberts, of Lindon, Utah, and son, Dr. Gordon R. Loveless Jr. (Kathy) of Bedford, NH; seven grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family expresses a sincere thanks to Sunrise Senior Living in Salt Lake City, Utah where he lived for 8 happy years before moving to Osmond Senior Living in Lindon, Utah. We appreciate the care and concern given by the staff at iCare Hospice during his last days.
A memorial service for all family and friends will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday August 5th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Family members are invited to a private graveside service following the memorial.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your local Humane Society. Gordon loved his best friend "Mutz" for 17 wonderful years.
