Howard S. Jensen

Howard was born February 15th 1927 of “goodly” parents, N. Howard Jensen and Cora Elizabeth Shores in Fillmore Utah. Howard and his family moved from Fillmore to Toole Utah in 1931 where he graduated from high school in 1944. He then enlisted in the Army Air Corp in June of 1944 and completed basic training at Keesler field in Mississippi. Howard proudly served 11 months at Nielsen Field in the Philippines. He returned to Utah and enrolled at the University of Utah. He received his degree in business management. He joined Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Utah in 1952 and after 35 years retired in 1987 as senior vice president.

Howard and Pat loved boating; the trips to Lake Powell will forever be in our memories. He and his family were pioneers to Lake Powell as it was still filling in 1965. He loved to take the kids out on the lake and teach them how to water ski and would stay out until the sun was going down or everyone was too worn out to ski anymore. In his younger days he loved motorcycle riding, hunting, and riding horses. He loved cars and owned many classics throughout his life; he could remember any event by what car he owned at the time.

Howard married Patricia Lou Hills on November 30th 1957 and had their only daughter, Wendy Sue, on January 10th 1962. He was a loving parent; husband, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend to all. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His knowledge, humor and passion for life will live on with all who knew him. Howard is survived by his daughter Wendy (Jim) Marquardt, grandchildren, Megan and Kyle Marquardt and many nephews and nieces. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, Brother Rick and Sister LaFair.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their compassion and help during this difficult time; we couldn’t have gotten through this without you. We would also like to thank the staff at the Wellington assisted living center for their support and care.

Funeral services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary on Friday November the 7th at 2:00 PM. A viewing will be held Thursday Nov.6th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
