James Forsgren

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend passed quietly and peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 30, 2017. James was born in Brigham City, Utah on August 10,

1920 and was the fourth of seven children of Arvil Theodore and Lillie Prudence Bywater Forsgren. The family moved to Salt Lake in 1923 where James grew up. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country. James married Irene Jane Wilde August 22, 1949 and together they had two daughters, Linda Dee and Sue Fabrizio. He worked as brakeman and engineer on the Denver Rio Grande Railroad for 48 years before retiring. James loved most sports and played football, basketball, and baseball during his high school years at South High. He was most passionate about the game of golf and he played it like “a pro.” He loved digging in the dirt, planting lots of flowers and keeping his yard in immaculate order. He was a very frugal man, but was surprisingly generous. He will be remembered as a hard working, honest, respectable man. We will all sorely miss him and he shall be remembered in our hearts always and forever. James is survived by his wife and long companion, Irene, daughters, Linda (late husband Craig Dee) and Sue (Levere), and brother Bob Forsgren and sister Louise Brown, 8 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Arvil T. and Lillie Prudence, his brothers, Ferron and Keith Forsgren and sisters, Opal Christensen and Ida Mitchell. The family wishes to thank hospice for all their loving attentive care and also to the private aides who became such a part of this family.

Funeral services will be held at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and

Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 8, 2017. There will be a visitation for friends and family one hour prior to the service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn and Memorial Park.
