

Jason battled mental health issues his entire life, yet maintained a kind and gentle spirit. He had a strong sense of social justice and much of his life was lived accordingly. He graduated from Skyline High School. He had many interests in his early life. Among them were music, playing the dobro, hiking and camping, playing chess, bowling and drawing. He particularly enjoyed being a peer counsellor at the YWCA PACT program. He made lifelong friends in cub scouts and boy scouts. Jason was an active member of the Unitarian Church.
Jason was preceded in death by: his mother Karen Sundstrom Mitchell, paternal grandparents Earlene and Dale Mitchell, grandfather Mel Rosen, maternal grandfather Dale Sundstrom.
Jason is survived by: parents Allen and Sharon Mitchell, grandmother Carol Rosen, grandmother Beth Sundstrom, brother Jeremy Mitchell and his husband Matt Hyer, brother James Mitchell and his wife Bonnie Mitchell, nephew TJ Williams, niece Kaegan Mitchell and his beloved friend and companion Doreen Devito.
A service to honor the life of Jason will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2016 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, with Minister Tom Goldsmith officiating. Friends may visit preceding the service from 2:15 - 3:00. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Volunteers of America.
