Our Earth-Angel Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother graduated to the Higher Realms of Heaven on the first day of April, 2017 at the age of 94. She was dearly loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by her 5 remaining children, 23 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Jeanne Marie Callister Thorne was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 1, 1923 to Paul Quayle Callister and Mary Bramwell Callister. Jeanne graduated from East High School and shortly afterwards married Cyril James Thorne in the Salt Lake Temple on September 6, 1941. She remained by his side through World War II and the Korean War. Together they served an LDS Mission to the Liberty Ward. They loved to travel together in their motor-home visiting family and friends all over the country until James Thorne passed away on January 27, 1994. Jeanne was blessed with so many gifts and talents which included: art, music, gardening, floral arranging, ballet, tennis, and spreading kindness wherever she would travel. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and many from the Parley's First Ward still remember her beautiful floral arrangements she would display each and every Sunday on their chapel's podium. Her notoriety included being a Primary Teacher for over 20 years, being a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and President of the Louise E. Callister Foundation, which helps support the needs of Native Americans and supports LDS Missionaries worldwide. She is survived by three of her four siblings and five of her six children--Cheryle DeWitt, Brent Thorne, Bruce Thorne, Janae Thorne and Wendy Thorne. Her daughter, Marsha Callister Platner, preceded her in death on May 15, 2012. The final tribute to our beautiful Daughter of God will be held on Friday, April 7 at the Parleys First Ward located at 2350 S. 2100 E. Her viewing will begin at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. She will be iinterred at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah. A special "thank-you" to the Sunrise Care Center and the Solstice Hospice for her care in her final days.
