Jed Eldon Dymock returned to his Heavenly Father on July 18, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on March 26, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James Elmer and Hilma J. Dymock, Jed was raised in Tooele, Utah, where he attended Tooele High School and played trumpet in the school band.
As a young man, Jed worked at ZCMI selling shoes—a job that would change his life forever. It was there he met Nancy Ruth Sailer, also a ZCMI employee. Their connection was immediate and profound. They were married by the justice of the peace and later, sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple, beginning a loving and devoted partnership that spanned 52 beautiful years.
Jed served proudly in the Utah Air National Guard, where he developed his skills as a cook and eventually retired with the rank of Master Sergeant as a member of the 151st Services Flight Air Refueling Wing. His service took him to places such as Costa Rica, Hawaii, Alaska, and Kuwait.
Jed’s love of cooking extended beyond his military service—he particularly enjoyed preparing healthy meals and smoothies and loved experimenting in the kitchen. A lifelong learner, Jed pursued continuing education at the University of Utah, where he worked and later retired after 20 years as Senior Buyer at the University of Utah Bookstore.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jed approached his faith with sincerity and conviction, studying the scriptures with unwavering belief.
Jed was a kind and loyal man who always saw the best in others. He actively practiced kindness, empathy, and compassion for all. He lived with a strong sense of responsibility, a sharp intellect, and a curious spirit. He loved to travel, especially with Nancy, exploring National Parks across the country—most especially those in Utah.
He led an active and healthy lifestyle, enjoying golf, yoga, and strength training. Jed was a passionate fan of the Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys, and the Utah Utes—holding season tickets to Utah football for many years. He had a deep interest in politics, history, and religion, and was a lifelong learner and avid reader. The music and lyrics of Bob Dylan held a special place in his heart, resonating with him throughout his life.
Jed’s love for Nancy was unconditional. For over two decades, he cared for her selflessly and without complaint. His loyalty and devotion never wavered. Their love was the center of his world and the greatest joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Melvin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Ray Brusik; numerous nieces and nephews; and the caregivers from Aspen Senior Care, whom he lovingly regarded as his grandchildren.
Jed’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him—for his gentle heart, steadfast character, and the remarkable life he lived with grace, curiosity, and love.
A viewing prior to the service for Jed will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at The Springcreek 21st Ward, 878 W Center St, Springville, UT 84663, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, UT at 2:30 PM.
