Joann Gardner

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother JoAnn Averett Gardner, age 81, was reunited with her husband Irv early Thursday morning, June 21, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Springville, Utah March 10, 1931 to Lew F. and LaVon Young Averett, she was proud to be an Averett, and also to be from Springville. She later married Irvin D. Gardner on November 25, 1953. JoAnn attended South High School and went on to receive her education from both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. She had a long career as a secretary with Hercules Inc. She loved entertaining, gathering her family together, barbequing, and enjoying others' company. Survived by her children Dennis (Paula) Gardner, Susan (Craig) Parkin, Scott (Betty) Gardner, Lisa (Daryl) Fietkau; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters MaryLou (Roy) Dixon, Morrie (Jim) Cole, Janice (Newell) Evans, Pam (Dennis) Calder, and sister-in-law Ellen (Neil) Averett. Preceded in death by her husband Irvin D. Gardner, parents Lew F. and LaVon Young Averett; sister Pat (Burt) Mills, and brother Neil Averett. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 29, at 2pm at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, where a viewing will be held Thursday from 6-8pm, and again one hour prior to services.
