Joy Johnson Ludlow passed away at her home on May 22, 2021, with her loving and devoted husband by her side. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Joy was born on August 12, 1936 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Earl D Johnson and Erma Muhlestein Johnson. She was the oldest of five children. Joy moved to Salt Lake City when she was young and graduated from East High School in 1954.
Joy met the love of her life, Donald Reese Ludlow, at the age of sixteen, and three years later, they married on July 8, 1956. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 16, 1964.
She loved her family and devoted her entire life to their happiness. She saved every card or note they ever gave her. She kept them in keepsake boxes for each of them as a gift with all the special memories.
Joy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. She was Primary President, Stake Primary President, counselor in the Relief Society, and worked in the baptistery at the Jordan River Temple.
Her talents ran deep. She loved genealogy, hosting family events, keeping her gardens beautiful, and having a perfectly manicured lawn. Joy developed a love of cruising and was fortunate to travel the world with Don throughout their marriage. She was the co-owner of Dolphin Pools and Spas and spent tireless hours working with her husband to build the company.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Barbara. She is survived by her husband, Don, her brother, Lance, and sisters, Susann and Christy, her children, Susan Ludlow, David (Andrea) Ludlow, Mark (Tiersa) Ludlow, Jennifer (Paul) Montalbano, and Jeff Ludlow, her eighteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Viewings for Joy will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm, and on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah.
