Karen Louise Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on September 20, 1938, and spent her early childhood with her parents, Frank and Louise Page in Goshen, Utah. After moving to Salt Lake City, in 1952 the family moved again to Holladay Utah, where along with her younger brothers Frank J. Page and Vaun Paul Page, she spent her teen years.
At Olympus High school, she was very active in student government and known for leading a successful musical group that performed song and dance routines at other high schools. At one of their performances, a local talent scout actually offered them work in Las Vegas, which due to their age and discretion, they gracefully declined. After graduation, she attended the University of Utah. While working part-time in Sugarhouse designing window displays, she was honored to be crowned Miss Sugarhouse, a reflection of the grace and warmth that would continue to define her throughout her life.
On December 28,1958 she married Jimmy Brown, who at that time, along with Tally Stevens, owned and managed Stevens Brown Sporting Goods in Sugarhouse. Together, Karen and Jimmy, as they were known to many, built a life centered on family, love, and kindness. Over the years, at their beautiful home on Millbrook Road, they held wonderful family gatherings and celebrations that were deeply appreciated by family and friends. They shared 50 years of marriage before Jimmy passed away in 2009.
Karen was a devoted mother to her sons, Palmer and Peter, and found great joy in her family. She is survived by her sons, Palmer and his wife Candace, and Peter and his wife Kathy, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Connor, and Bridget.
A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Karen devoted much of her life to serving others through her church community. While attending and serving faithfully in her church, she led many Bible studies, spoke publicly on matters of Christian faith, and found lasting friendship and encouragement. She will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and steadfast devotion to others. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Karen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
We are deeply grateful to the compassionate team at Independence Home Health & Hospice and to the many caregivers who provided comfort, dignity, and kindness during this difficult time. Their support brought peace not only to Karen, but to our family and friends. We are also sincerely grateful for the love, prayers, and support of her church family and friends, whose faithfulness and encouragement were a steady source of comfort throughout this time. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our dear friend, Roland Ilott, whose unwavering friendship, generosity, and presence meant more than words can express. His love and kindness will always be remembered with gratitude.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Wm. Frank Page and Louise Black Page Folster, her brother Vaun Paul Page and her husband, Jimmy Brown. A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held on June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Risen Life Church, 2780 E. 3900 So, Salt Lake City, Utah. She will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Millcreek, Utah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Risen Life Church in loving memory of Karen.
