Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed from this temporal world at her home in West Jordan to celebrate a wonderful reunion with her parents, sister, aunts and uncles and other family members at 12:30 pm on Saturday August 15, 2015 with her husband Pete by her side. Kathy fought courageously through two bouts of breast cancer the latest a long three year journey. Kathy was born in Salt Lake City on August 20th 1944 and was married to Peter Karl Ringger on May 9th, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children Holly and Michael. She had a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ and the “Plan of Happiness” and was a faithful servant of the Lord accepting all callings to serve including an inner city mission and a mission to Manchester England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her whole life was filled with service, whether it was to family or a neighbor. She gave generously to children in Ethiopia, Mexico and the United States. She served as a an early board member for the Festival of Trees, as a library volunteer where she received the volunteer of the year award in 1995 as well as loving the children as a clerk for many years at the Primary Children’s Hospital. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Physical Education with an emphasis in dance. These last few months were focused on her desire to see her grandson Jordan be called to serve a mission and will surely watch over him as he serves the next two years. Kathy was an avid reader and delved deeply into the Gospel of Jesus Christ-a scriptorian all of her life. She was the Montague family’s genealogist and took her assignment to “redeem the dead” seriously, having researched and completed the work for hundreds of her ancestors.
She is survived by her husband Pete, daughter Holly (Rob Brough), son Mike (Adriana) and six beautiful grandchildren-Jordan, Zzkora, Olivia, Taelynn, Bianca and Jackman that she will continue to mentor. She is also survived by her brothers Mike (Diane), Ken (Becky) and Bill (Linda). She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Dale and Clara Montague and by her sister La Dawn (Randy Sartori).
In lieu of a viewing a memorial to celebrate her life will begin promptly at 6 pm at the West Jordan 27th Ward on Friday August 21st located at 2666 West 7000 South. The memorial will be followed by refreshments and mingling with family and friends. A family gathering will take place on Saturday August 22nd at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary-3401 South Highland Drive-SLC- from 11 a.m. to 12 noon followed by interment next to her parents.
The family appreciates all of the loving care she received at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and particularly from Dr. Anna Beck and Vicki Rosser, RN and from the caring nurses, aides and others at Community Nursing Services. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either of these organizations.
