Kim passed away unexpectedly on April 30th, 2025 at the age of 70. She was the daughter of Marvin Hadley and Annette Butters Hadley.
Kim was born to Papa Marv and Nin as we called them. She was the oldest of the 3 daughters they had. She loved her sisters, Heidi Fogg and Lori Hewlett, and talked to them often. She loved and cared about them. She loved her nieces and nephews and wished she had got to see them more as the years went by.
She had numerous cousins who she adored and would reminisce about the times on the ranch and the times they spent growing up as one big family together. She was thankful that she was still in contact with so many of them and able to talk about the good old days and the new good old days talking about each others kids and grandkids.
Kim was married to Craig Albert Siciliano and was welcomed into the Siciliano family with open arms. Her in laws, Albert Siciliano (pops) and Betty Siciliano (nana), always said how in Kim they got the daughter they had always wanted. This strong bond was never more evident than with the sudden passing of her husband Craig (which also happened on April 30th but in 1992). She instantly became a widow, single mom, and was pregnant with Olivia. That all happened on a beautiful day while watching her son Tony and her husband Craig as he coached his team at their little league baseball game.
With her world turned upside down, she could have given up, gave in, but with the love and support of family, friends and neighbors she made it through. She didn’t have it easy, but she had support, she had love, and she had determination.
She was a lifelong learner. She worked in several careers along the way. She spent time working at and owning several family restaurants with our dad. Siciliano’s food gallery in Holladay as well as Lumber and Lace in Emigration Canyon. When they decided to close the restaurants, my mom went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she met longtime friend Carol Christensen. She was still friends with her to this day. Shortly after our dads passing, she left Blue Cross to raise and take care of Tony and her new baby Olivia.
She had lots of help from neighbors and neighbor kids. She would want to genuinely express her thanks to all the neighbors of Casa Grande, but specifically Walt and Ann Layton and family, James and Susan Edmondson and family, Larry and Content Maxwell and family, and Carolyn Bartlett. She used to say she was part of the old guard of Casa Grande.
After several years of being a stay-at-home mom, she decided to work part time helping students in various ways in the Salt Lake City School District. She worked as a para-educator in classes from K-12, but really found a love working in the “special projects program" that was at East High School.
While working there she took on the role of becoming the primary caregiver to both her mom, Annette, and then her mother-in-law, Betty. She would make daily runs to see one of them, get them the things they needed, and help them in any way. This brought out a passion for her for Nursing. She then decided to enroll in school in her late 50’s and become a nurse. She graduated and immediately got to work taking jobs from Logan to Provo. This is where she met another lifelong friend Angela. She would tell her kids stories about wanting to be a travel nurse with Angela and go all over the country even as she approached the age of 65! Sadly, she never took the leap. She did however find her true calling working in the behavioral / mental health unit for University of Utah. She retired in 2023 wanting to spend more time with her kids and grandkids.
She was super mom to her 2 kids. She was the perfect mix of gentle and tough, fun but strict, even saying to Tony on multiple occasions, “I may not be able to kick your butt, but I’ll find someone who can if you don’t shape up!”
She was so proud of Olivia in every way. She would say all the time “Olivia is a creative force for the world. I don’t understand half of the stuff she says, but she puts her creative artistic force out there.” She was so proud of the creativity you have, whether it was making cakes be more than just a cake, showing your skill at all the fun and crazy styles you would do with your clients and their hair, or whatever it is you do on the computer to create designs and products for people all over the world to enjoy. Most importantly she was most proud of you for being YOU. You have a lot of mom in you Olivia, and she was proud of who you are and have become.
She was equally proud to be the mother-in-law to Tuesday. Kim was put through the ringer a lot with Tony and dating, but Kim knew probably before Tony that they hit the lottery with Tuesday becoming part of the family. She probably also was happy to share the load of keeping Tony in line. Kim would want Tuesday to know that she was always so happy to get Tuesday’s texts’ pictures, invites, and chats about anything in the family and that she admired you and loved you for the exact person you are and what you bring to our family. She loved seeing you be a mom to the girls, and that you always made her feel included and welcomed and loved in a genuine way.
Kim’s biggest pride and joy were her two granddaughters, Soleil and Sophia. Being able to watch them, spend holidays, or the random shopping trip with the girls were some of her favorite times.
She was so proud of Soleil and her accomplishments in dance and school, and was particularly excited to watch her perform on her high school dance company. Grandma K loved watching Soleil grow, mature, and become the amazingly talented, spirited, and loving person you have become. She would love that as I was writing this you called to ask permission to sluff class for the 1st time. She would probably say “she is so courteous to ask. You are lucky to have her.Let me remind you son how you just started sluffing one day and never turned back”. She loved to remind me of how much turmoil I created as a teen and was happy to see me stress over my own teen.
Sophia was Grandma Kim’s lil buddy, no one could make Grandma Kim laugh or smile like Sophia. She always thought you had the most magnetic personality and just a genuine love and care for everyone. She loved watching you follow in your mom and sisters’ footprints in dance, while also creating your own path and beating your own drum. She would always say she loved Sophia’s comedy and joy. She loved seeing how both Soleil and Sophia had their dad wrapped around his finger and enjoyed watching them give Tony his “just desserts” for all the years I made her worry.
In closing both Tony and Olivia want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who touched our moms life along the way. She sure had lots of curveballs thrown her way, but she always made time for family and friends and would want all of you here today to know she was so grateful for all the help she got along the way.
We love you and already miss you,
Love Tony, Olivia, Tuesday, Soleil and Sophia.
