

Leah was born on April 13, 1914 to Albert and Orilla Maxfield. She married her eternal sweetheart (Jim) James Gordon Sims on December 3, 1938. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three daughters, Patricia Petersen (H. Dewey), Julie Morley (David J.) and Peggy Knaphus (John H.) 13 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Ronald Maxfield (Billie) and her sister Karen Anderson (Lee). She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers Vard and Wendell Maxfield, sister Naomi Shumway and two great granddaughters Megan Cannon and Tara Allison.
Leah was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Junior Sunday School for years and later in the Relief Society. Her last calling was serving as Visiting Teacher Supervisor until she got sick in July of this year.
Leah was an elegant woman. She loved the arts, entertaining, cooking and flower arranging. She was a long time member and past president of the Salt Lake Garden Club.
We would like to give a special thanks to Millcreek Health and Hospice who helped to allow our mother to be at home through this final stage of her life, especially Teran, Heather and John. Your kindness, skill and sincere caring and friendship will always be cherished.
Funeral services Thursday December 4th at 12 noon at the Valley View 12th Ward 2050 East Evergreen Ave with a viewing December 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive Salt Lake City. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
