Lisa Carol Petersen Childs passed away on December 28, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on November 13, 1958 in Salt Lake City to Stanford and Carol Petersen. She was the oldest of seven children. Lisa attended William Penn Elementary, where she was the student body secretary, Evergreen Junior High and Olympus High School. Because she was born with hearing loss, she also attended the Utah School for the Deaf in her younger years.
Lisa was a very active child and loved playing with friends and family. She liked to play tetherball and jump on the trampoline. She enjoyed riding her bike around the neighborhood, swimming at the local pool and she liked to bowl. She loved to read and could read books very quickly. Lisa was a good artist and she especially liked to draw cartoons. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
Lisa found pleasure in the simple things in life. She liked taking rides with her husband, Larry; she loved telling jokes; she loved “quick and chewy dessert bars” and chocolate pudding, and she enjoyed a quiet evening at home. Lisa had a kind and generous heart. She loved to surprise her family with gifts. Her nieces and nephews always looked forward to visits from Lisa because she would bring them a present. And everyone loved Lisa’s laugh.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Larry Childs; her son, Raymond Cutway; her father, Stanford Petersen; and siblings, Stanford (Pete) Petersen, Lori (Steve) Spurrier, Eric (Sabrina) Petersen, Lindsi (Zach) Wiseman, and Luci Sorensen. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol Petersen, and brother Doug Petersen. We can only imagine the special reunion in Heaven between Lisa and her mom, brother, and many loved ones and friends.
