

Lydia Anne Hansen of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11th, 2016 at the age of 72. She was born on September 14th, 1943 to Arlie Earl and Velma Lewis Smith in Columbus, Georgia.
Lydia graduated from Central High School in Phenix City, AL in 1961 where she was a majorette and a member of the school's marching band.
She married David L. Hansen on September 3rd, 1966 and moved to Utah where they had two children together. They later divorced.
Lydia worked for the telephone company for over 30 years, retiring from U.S. West Communications in 2002.
She spent her retired years enjoying traveling to Georgia to visit her family and friends, cooking big meals for her family, crafting, gardening, and taking care of her cats. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her two children and making sure they knew they were loved. Lydia was such a loving and giving person who tried to help others as much as she could. She leaves behind many fond memories with those who knew her that will be cherished for many years to come.
Lydia is survived by her two children: Cindy Hansen and Cory Hansen. She is also survived by her sister, Sara Gilbert (Bob), step son, Kevin Hansen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother, Robert Smith, and a sister, Gail Perry.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 17th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City with a viewing from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will take place at the Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
