Martin George Peterson, known to most as Pete, died peacefully in his home in Nibley, Utah, March 25, 2023, after a surprisingly short battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on November 5, 1946, to Edra Allred and Jesse G. Peterson. He spent his childhood years in Payson, Utah, where he created all sorts of mischief and became a star athlete at Payson High.
In his youth he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central British Mission. Church service became a lasting theme throughout his life.
After meeting in a social dance class at Brigham Young University, he married his eternal companion and sweetheart, Noreen Archibald, in the Los Angeles Temple, on June 6, 1969.
He graduated from BYU with an accounting degree and later earned his CPA. His career focused on finances within the world of commercial real estate. He worked for 41 years for the Price Realty Group.
Pete and Noreen had an amazing partnership for 54 years. They found joy in supporting their six kids and grandkids in their many activities, always encompassing them with love. A favorite hobby was travelling the world together. They served as missionary companions in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission. The highlight of their service together was as temple missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois. Pete blessed many lives in his service as both a Stake Patriarch and a Temple Sealer. His favorite scripture was found in The Book of Mormon: “I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” (1 Nephi 3:7)
He is survived by his wife, Noreen; his children Paul (Erin) Peterson, Shelley (Paul) Heiner, Pamela (Todd) Richardson, Jenny (Scott) Hansen, Scott (Jenny) Peterson, Rich (Laurie) Peterson; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; and his brother Gordon Peterson.
Pete was awesome in countless ways, just ask around!
