Mary Musuris passed away on April 13, 2025, just thirteen days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born in Salt Lake City to Sam and Erene Rondas (Greece). Mary grew up in a loving home in the company of her three sisters. Their childhood home was in downtown Salt Lake where the future Salt Palace would be built. For fun, she and her sisters would go to the movies and then for 5 cent ice cream cones. After graduating from West High School, Mary received an associate degree from LDS Business College. She worked at the Salt Lake Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank prior to her marriage to the love of her life, Mark Musuris - a marriage that would last almost 42 years.
Mary was a loving wife and mother, fantastic grandmother, terrific aunt and friend. As a member of the Salt Lake Greek Orthodox community, Mary often worked at the Greek Festival sharing her love of Greek food and culture with the community. She was also active in the Philoptochos Society and served a term as president. She will be remembered as a kind soul with a feisty side who was always there to hear a story, share a laugh at the absurd, and enjoy some good food or a meal out. She would love to talk away the time while offering a cup of coffee and her exceptional paximadia or a slice of her famous spanakopita, served with love and made better by the surrounding company.
Preceded in death by her husband Mark, sisters Buzz and Georgia. She is survived by her sons Prokopis (Toni) and Spero (Ella), beloved granddaughter Sofia, sister Eleni, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank all the staff at The Ridge Cottonwood for the wonderful care they provided.
Viewing will be held on Monday, April 21, from 6-8pm, with Trisagion at 7pm, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Dr. Salt Lake City. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 10am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 So. 300 W. Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hellenic Cultural Association or Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
May her memory be eternal.
