Merlynn Larson, daughter of Byron and Oveda Larson was born in Salt Lake City on July 12, 1961. She was the sixth child in her family. She had four older sisters, Selma June, Roberta, Janice, and Lauretta and one older brother, Byron Albert. Merlynn was the baby of the family and had health problems soon after birth. It was a miracle that she survived to see her first birthday besides 60 others.
She attended and graduated from Granite High School where she lettered in girls’ basketball. While at Granite she met and became friends with Teresa Beardall. They remained not just friends but sisters for many years. Merlynn obtained a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University majoring in U.S. History and Physical Education. She taught night school for Granite District and several other jobs before finally finding her niche as a bus driver of special needs children for the Jordan School District.
Merlynn loved camping, reading, studying scriptures, playing with nieces and nephews and her dogs. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Relief Society President, gospel doctrine teacher and her favorite calling, Webelos leader. She loved her family and the Lord and returned to her heavenly home on August 26, 2022.
Funeral services will be held Friday September 16, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 97 W. 7500 S., Midvale, Utah.
