

Michelle Nigbur Jensen unexpectedly passed away on Jan. 1, 2025 at 63 years of age. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Her passing is too soon, and we are sad to share this information.
Michelle was born on March 10, 1961 to Georg and Irmgard Nigbur in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of 9 children in the Nigbur family. She grew up in Rose Park and attended West High School where she was on the drill team. Michelle graduated in 1979.
She met Steve Jensen while working at St. Mark’s Hospital and they married on Dec. 29, 1982. Steve and Michelle spent four years in Virginia while Steve was attending Dental School at the Medical College of Virginia. They returned to Salt Lake where Steve set up his dental practice.
Michelle and Steve are the proud parents of Sara Jensen McDonald (Collin) and Eric Nicklaus Jensen (Brittney) and the grandparents to Avery McDonald, Nolan McDonald and Eva Jensen.
Michelle’s greatest joy in her life was time spent with family, particularly her children and grandchildren. Special memories will include days spent at Bear Lake, Lake Powell and Park City. She was a UTE fan and enjoyed attending football games with family and friends. She loved musical theater and enjoyed attending performances by SLAC, Eccles, PMT and Hale Center Theater on a regular basis.
Michelle enjoyed working and was always employed. She spent 25 years at the Heart Center at St. Marks before transferring to Shriners Children’s Hospital where she was employed at the time of her death. Michelle enjoyed many friendships through her work and will always be remembered for her dependability and commitment to her job responsibilities.
Michelle is preceded in death by her parents, Georg and Irma Nigbur and her oldest brother Michael Nigbur along with her Brother-in-law Ron Sofonia.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Steven K Jensen, her children Sara (Collin) McDonald, Eric (Brittney) Jensen and her grandchildren, Avery McDonald, Nolan McDonald and Eva Jensen.
She is also survived by 7 of her siblings: Crystal Sofonia, Gary Nigbur, Achim(Robyn) Nigbur, Frank (Esther)Nigbur, Dave(Debbie)Nigbur, Annelee(Mark)McKean, Patty Nigbur and Steven’s family, Vicki Spuhler (Curt Sydenham), Shauna (John) Larson.
Internment will be located at Wasatch Lawns on Saturday, January 11, 2025. A viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a service to follow at the graveside (weather permitting) at 2:00 pm.
