Born 09/13/1927. Died 11/18/2021. Millie passed peacefully from this life in her own home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings and by her husband, Keith Done Bassett. She is survived by her 4 children, Stephanie Gordon, Grant Bassett, Jody Clark, and Kelly Davis; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Millie was born in Logan, Utah and grew up on a farm in Nibley. She graduated from South Cache High School and moved to Salt Lake where she attended and graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing, where she was also a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp. She met Keith in Salt Lake and married him right after her graduation.
Millie was a wonderful and dedicated nurse. She once had the honor and privilege of being President David O. McKay’s private duty nurse for 5 years. She and Keith’s relationship was a love affair for all times. They were wonderful parents and had many adventures over the 65 years they were together. Since Keith’s passing, Millie has longed for her beloved companion and we love to think of them being together again now.
During her last years Millie had dementia and was lovingly (and mostly patiently) cared for at home by her granddaughter, Jami. Millie often returned in her mind to her youth and her life and family on the farm. She had so many stories.
Millie was such a beautiful fun loving and adventurous woman. She was so outgoing and friendly and positive. We will all miss her so very much. She was such a classy lady.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing to be held from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. in the same location.
