Nancy Lee Frasier Wright

Nancy Lee Frasier Wright, born on October 22, 1935, in Clinton, Utah, to Howard Mumford and Ada Mae Lund Frasier, passed away peacefully at her home on February 18, 2025. She was the oldest of four sisters: Shanna, Linda, and Dixie, and grew up on a farm where she learned the value of hard work, cooking, community service, and the importance of family.

Nancy's upbringing on the farm shaped her life, teaching her the skills of cooking, gardening, and resilience that she carried with her throughout her journey. Many of these experiences instilled in her a deep love for learning and a lifelong desire to teach others the value of hard work. As a result, Nancy pursued a degree in Physical Education, attending Weber State College before graduating from Utah State University in 1957. It was at Weber State that she met the love of her life, Nelson Elliott Wright. They were married on August 29, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised three children: Alisyn Marie (Curtis) Bevan, Gregory Lee (Kirsten) Wright, and Christian Frasier (Camilla) Wright. Nancy was a devoted mother and grandmother to eight grandchildren, and her thirteen "Amazing Greats". She cherished every moment with her family, who brought her endless joy.

Nancy’s teaching career spanned several years and included positions at Highland High School, Kearns High School, and Seattle High School. She also substituted while stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where Nelson served as a physician during the Berlin Crisis. In addition to her professional work, Nancy was actively involved in the community. She was the President of both the Salt Lake City and Utah State Medical Auxiliaries and was a fierce advocate for the Crime Victim’s Reparations Program, for which she served as a dedicated board member. She also served a mission for the Valley View Stake and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served earnestly throughout her life in whatever capacity she was called.

A lover of art, Nancy found joy in oil painting, a passion she developed while in Germany. She also loved tending to her yard, hosting family and friends, and traveling the world with her husband. Nancy’s warmth, kindness, and generosity were felt by all who knew her, and she touched countless lives through her service, her dedication to her family, her students, and her friends. Her legacy is one of kindness, strength, and service. Nancy was a woman who always put her family first, taught by example, and believed deeply in the power of education, faith, and community.

Nancy is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ada Frasier, her beloved husband, Nelson Elliott Wright, and her sister, Shanna Waldorf.

In celebration of Nancy’s life, services will be held on Tuesday, February 25th, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, located at 3401 So. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM, at the mortuary. The dedication of the grave will immediately follow the service at the Rosemont Section of the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy would love a donation to be made to either the Utah Office for Victims of Crime (in the check “memo” please put: “in honor of Nancy Wright”), or the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or another charity of your choice.

Nancy’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
