Nicholas John Verno (Nick), Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, died September 12, 2010, Sandy, Utah. Born December 11, 1919, in Canastota, New York to Natale Verno and Filomena Delapenta. Graduated from Canastota High School. Served in the United States Air Force, 408th Bomb Squadron, 22nd Group, World War II.
While stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, UT he met and married Audrey Ella Peeples, Cathedral of the Madeleine, Salt Lake City, Utah November 25, 1941. She died May 4, 1987. Retired from Eimco Mining Machinery where he worked for over 30 years. Nick was a passionate pool player, an excellent bowler, and was always up for a good poker game. He was also avid college and pro football fan.
Survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Shelly, son Steven, of Sandy, Utah. Grandchildren, Shellane Eaton (Philip), Brandon (Amanda), Ryan (Megan), Heather (Dustin) Farrimond. Great Grandchildren, Ava and Camden Verno; Sister, Theresa Conroy, Syracuse, NY; Sister-in laws; Pauline Haslam (Thomas); Bountiful,UT, Rita Verno, St. Paul Virginia. Preceded in Death by Wife, Audrey, Sister Mary, Brothers; Joseph (Mary), Louis, and Anthony (Marge). Parents Natale and Filomena, Mother In Law, Annette Peeples, Brother In Laws; Bruce N Peeples, (Virginia) Richard C Peeples (DeLone).
A Graveside service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, UT on Thursday, September 16, 11:30 A.M. A viewing will be held at the mortuary one-hour prior to the service. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of OneCare Hospice and Sunrise Senior Living of Sandy.
